Basswood (Tilia) is generally considered safe for budgies and other pet birds. It's a softwood that doesn't contain harmful resins or toxins, making it less likely to pose a threat to birds if they chew on it. However, while it's safe in its natural form, it's important to not add any finish, paint, or varnish to the basswood as some finishes can be harmful.
